The Australian National Budgerigar Council (ANBC) stands as the premier organisation overseeing the breeding, exhibition, and overall promotion of budgerigars in Australia. As the authoritative body in the field, the ANBC unites enthusiasts, breeders, and clubs through the States and Zones, fostering a thriving community dedicated to the welfare and enhancement of these vibrant birds. The council establishes rigorous standards for breeding and exhibition, ensuring the highest quality and uniformity in budgerigar shows and competitions. Through education, research, and advocacy, the ANBC plays a pivotal role in advancing knowledge, best practices, and the appreciation of budgerigars, solidifying its position as the peak body for the Australian budgerigar community.
More About the ANBC & It’s Functions
The ANBC is an incorporated body under the laws of the Australian Capital Territory whose membership comprises seven-(7) state or zone-based budgerigar organisations. The ANBC’s primary function is to annually hold the Trill™ Expert ANBC National Titles and to facilitate and coordinate policies for adoption of its member organisations. It enables its member bodies to coordinate cooperative actions on matters on which such bodies agree with respect to show rules, judging and standard and policies which are of common interest to its member bodies. The ANBC also represents Australian Budgerigar breeders’ interests at international bodies concerning Budgerigars or matters pertaining to international trade in birds, welfare and wellbeing.

49th Annual Trill™ Expert ANBC National Titles
May 23rd – May 25th 2025, Brothers League Club, Cairns, QLD
Welcome to North Queensland Budgerigar Zone update for the 49th Annual Trill™ Expert ANBC National Titles being held in Cairns from 23 – 25 May 2025. This update includes a snap shot of the weekend events, tour options available during your stay in Cairns, as well as NQBZ’s preferred accommodation option, a short stroll from the Championship Show venue.
Schedule of Events
The weekend events will commence with Registration collection Friday afternoon. The Friday Night Meet and Greet will kick off with “Experts On The Perch” at 6 pm at the Brothers League Club, followed by a Meet & Greet. This night is a great interactive event to catch up with old and new friends.
Saturday will see judging at the Brothers League Club commencing around 9 am and continue on again on Sunday from 9 am.
The Auction on Sunday will commence around 1.30 pm, concluding the Sunday show events around 3.30pm.
Finally, the Presentation Dinner at the Brothers Leagues Club will open at 6.30 pm for a 7.00 pm start.
