Budgerigar Council of South Australia (BCSA)

The Budgerigar Council of South Australia (BCSA) is the peak body for the budgerigar hobby in South Australia, responsible for overseeing the breeding, exhibition, and promotion of budgerigars within the state. The BCSA works closely with clubs to ensure that all members are well-supported through training programs, exhibitions, and resources aimed at improving the quality of breeding and the enjoyment of the hobby. It provides a framework for competitive showing, ensuring that all competitions adhere to the national standards set by the Australian National Budgerigar Council (ANBC). The BCSA also plays a key role in organizing major events, including the South Australian State Championships (Logan Shield) and Budgie Fest.

Geographically, the BCSA covers all of South Australia and Broken Hill, supporting local clubs and fostering a sense of community among budgerigar enthusiasts across the state. The council actively works to promote the hobby through events, newsletters, and public outreach, with the goal of attracting new breeders and participants. By coordinating activities, sharing knowledge, and hosting aviary visits and social gatherings, the BCSA creates opportunities for breeders at all levels to engage with the wider budgerigar community. Additionally, the BCSA is dedicated to ensuring the long-term sustainability of the hobby by promoting ethical breeding practices and fostering the development of novice and junior breeders.
