World Budgerigar Organisation (WBO)

The World Budgerigar Organisation (WBO) is the international body that brings together budgerigar societies, breeders, and enthusiasts from around the globe. Founded with the aim of promoting the breeding, exhibition, and care of budgerigars at an international level, the WBO serves as a unifying force for the global budgerigar community. It works to standardize practices and foster cooperation between national and regional budgerigar organizations, ensuring that best practices in breeding, health, and exhibition are shared and implemented across borders.

One of the WBO’s primary roles is to maintain and uphold the “Ideal Budgerigar Standard,” which is recognized by member organizations around the world. This standard provides a consistent framework for the breeding and exhibition of budgerigars, ensuring that birds are judged fairly and uniformly in competitions internationally. The WBO also organizes international conferences, provides resources for breeders and exhibitors, and promotes the welfare of budgerigars through research and education. By fostering collaboration among member countries, the WBO contributes to the advancement and sustainability of the global budgerigar hobby.
