Rowe Brothers – Champion Australian Budgerigar Breeders Since 1976
The Rowe Brothers began their journey in exhibition budgerigar breeding in 1976 as young enthusiasts and were founding members of the former West Gippsland Budgerigar Society. Although their involvement paused in 1981 due to other interests, the partnership was officially re-established in 1992 with John and Greg. David rejoined a few years later, and together the three formed the current Rowe Brothers partnership.
Today, they are proud members of the Baw Baw Budgerigar Society and continue to breed high-quality normal variety budgerigars. Each brother brings unique strengths to the partnership:
-
John specialises in Australian Goldenface and Recessive Pied budgerigars.
-
Greg and David focus on Blackeye, Recessive Pied, and Crest varieties.
Since reforming in 1992, the Rowe Brothers have achieved significant show bench success both locally and at the national level. Their impressive achievements include:
-
7 National wins, earning a place in the prestigious National Budgerigar Hall of Fame.
-
An additional national class win with Dark Eyed Clears when the variety was introduced.
-
61 Victorian State Championship wins.
-
8 Diploma wins.
With a strong commitment to breeding top-quality exhibition budgerigars, the Rowe Brothers have built a reputation as one of Australia’s most respected and enduring budgerigar breeding partnerships. Their shared passion for the hobby continues to unite them as both breeders and brothers.
