Luke Fletcher Budgies

Luke Fletcher has been a long-standing contributor to the technical evolution of the Australian National Budgerigar Championship Show, helping modernise how the event is run and experienced by exhibitors and spectators alike.

His involvement began in 1995, when, at just 15 years of age. Luke introduced electronic scoring to the National Show for the first time. At the same event he also developed the first computer-generated show results booklet, replacing manual preparation and significantly improving the speed and accuracy of results distribution.

Over the following years Luke continued to refine the technology supporting the event, contributing to the development of electronic scoreboards that made judging progress and results more visible to exhibitors and attendees during the show.

A major milestone came at the 2009 Australian National in Burnie, where Luke helped deliver the first live online results system, allowing people around Australia to follow the show as it happened — a significant step in bringing the event beyond the show hall.

Luke has continued working with a dedicated group of volunteers to evolve these systems over time, helping guide the event into the modern streaming era, where the National Show can now be viewed by budgerigar enthusiasts around Australia and across the world.

His ongoing contributions have played an important role in modernising the presentation and accessibility of the Australian National Budgerigar Championship Show while preserving the spirit and tradition of the hobby.
