Norm Wheatley – ANBC Hall of Fame

Norm Wheatley has earned an enduring place among Australia’s leading budgerigar breeders through a remarkable record of success at ANBC National level. Representing Western Australia, Norm has secured eight National titles across a career spanning more than three decades, an achievement that reflects both exceptional breeding skill and sustained excellence.

His first National victory came in 1995 with a Recessive Pied, beginning a record that would later include further National wins with Recessive Pieds, Fallows, Double Factor Spangles and Greens. His repeated success with the Recessive Pied, in particular, has become a defining feature of his National record.

Norm’s longevity at the highest level is equally impressive. More than 30 years after his first National title, he continued to achieve outstanding results, culminating in two National victories in 2026 with the Green and Double Factor Spangle classes.

With eight National wins across four varieties and success extending from 1995 to 2026, Norm Wheatley’s contribution to the exhibition budgerigar fancy is one of sustained quality, versatility and achievement. His record has firmly established him among the elite breeders recognised within the ANBC Breeders Hall of Fame.
