About the Hall of Fame

In May 2003, the A.N.B.C. Inc. established a prestigious ‘Hall of Fame’, with its inaugural category titled ‘Breeder Excellence’. This division was created to honour breeders who have achieved outstanding success at the ANBC National Competition Show. National class wins from 1983 onwards are considered in the tally.

The ‘Breeder Excellence’ award formally recognises individual breeders or partnerships who have made a significant contribution to the fancy by consistently exhibiting budgerigars of the highest standard. It acknowledges both sustained effort and exceptional achievement within the competitive sphere of the hobby.

Inductees are publicly announced and formally presented with a certificate during the Presentation Dinner, held on the Sunday evening of the A.N.B.C. Inc. National Competition Show.

Eligibility for inclusion in the ‘Breeder Excellence’ division is determined by success in any variety class that qualifies for State or Zone points at the Nationals. To that end, exhibition-only classes are not considered as part of the criteria.

To qualify for induction into the Hall of Fame, Breeder Excellence Division, exhibitors must meet one of the following criteria:

  • Achieve seven (7) class wins across any variety, or
  • Win the same class on four (4) separate occasions.

This honour represents one of the highest levels of recognition within the Australian budgerigar fancy.
