ANBC Hall of Fame, Breeders Excellence Division Induction: 2011
Mark Chidel of New South Wales was inducted into the ANBC Hall of Fame – Breeders Excellence Division – in 2011, following an exceptional exhibition career that saw him secure eight national class wins. Known for his consistency across a wide range of varieties, Mark’s achievements reflect both the depth and versatility of his breeding program.
His first national win came in 2002 in the Opaline class, quickly followed by victory in the Spangle Combined class in 2003. From there, Mark continued to make his mark at the Nationals with a Green win in 2004, and back-to-back triumphs in the Yellow Faced class in 2005 and 2006—showcasing his ability to maintain high-quality breeding lines over multiple seasons.
In 2008, he added the Grey variety to his growing list of accomplishments, and in 2011—the year of his induction—he capped off his Hall of Fame credentials with two more national wins: one in Fallow and the other in Greywing. These final wins not only confirmed his eligibility but also highlighted his capability in producing top-tier birds across both dominant and recessive varieties.
