ANBC Hall of Fame, Breeders Excellence Division Induction: 2017

Representing Victoria, Jeffrey was inducted into the ANBC Hall of Fame – Breeders Excellence Division in 2017, following an impressive run of seven national class wins, including four in the highly competitive Lutino class. Known for his eye for detail, size and bull necked birds, Jeffrey quickly built a reputation as a leading exhibitor on the national stage.

His first national win came in 2009 with a Lutino, signaling the beginning of a remarkable connection to the variety. He followed up with further wins in Lutino in 2015, 2016, and again in 2017—the win that secured his Hall of Fame qualification under the second criteria: four separate wins in the same class. Along the way, he also took out the Cinnamon Wing class in 2013 and the Opaline AOSV in 2016, before adding a Dominant Pied to his tally in 2017.

After his Hall of Fame induction, Jeffrey’s success only continued. He secured further wins in 2019 (Green), 2022 (Cinnamon Wing and Clearbody), and a standout trio in 2023—adding titles in Lutino, Opaline, and Clearbody. Most recently, in 2024, he added a Lacewing win to his growing list, bringing his total to 14 national titles across eight different varieties.

Jeffrey’s record highlights not only his enduring strength in Lutino’s but also his versatility across multiple classes. He remains a prominent figure in the Victorian fancy, admired for his consistency, humility, and dedication to improving the breed.

His Hall of Fame induction is a fitting tribute to a breeder who has repeatedly demonstrated excellence at the highest level, and his ongoing achievements continue to inspire fanciers across Australia.

About the ANBC Hall of Fame

In May 2003, the A.N.B.C. Inc. established a prestigious ‘Hall of Fame’, with its inaugural category titled ‘Breeder Excellence’. This division was created to honour breeders who have achieved outstanding success at the ANBC National Competition Show. National class wins from 1983 onwards are considered in the tally.

The ‘Breeder Excellence’ award formally recognises individual breeders or partnerships who have made a significant contribution to the fancy by consistently exhibiting budgerigars of the highest standard. It acknowledges both sustained effort and exceptional achievement within the competitive sphere of the hobby.

Inductees are publicly announced and formally presented with a certificate during the Presentation Dinner, held on the Sunday evening of the A.N.B.C. Inc. National Competition Show.

Eligibility for inclusion in the ‘Breeder Excellence’ division is determined by success in any variety class that qualifies for State or Zone points at the Nationals. Exhibition-only classes are not considered as part of the criteria.

To qualify for induction into the Hall of Fame, Breeder Excellence Division, exhibitors must meet one of the following criteria:

  • Achieve seven (7) class wins across any variety, or

  • Win the same class on four (4) separate occasions.

This honour represents one of the highest levels of recognition within the Australian budgerigar fancy.
