ANBC President’s Report Feb 2026

Christmas is now done and dusted—and like birthdays, each one is a gentle reminder that time keeps moving. With 2025 behind us, 2026 brings fresh hope for budgerigar breeders, as a new breeding season begins to unfold across Australia.

Sadly, the New Year has not been kind to everyone. Personal tragedy has touched members of our community, and the loss of a loved one is never easy. If you know someone doing it tough, a simple phone call can make a real difference—sometimes it’s enough to remind them they’re not facing it alone.

Our thoughts are also with members impacted by the Victorian bushfires, which have had a devastating effect, and with those dealing with flooding in the north. Australia can be a harsh place at times—fires in the south and floodwaters up north causing widespread damage and disruption.

Until things crank up a little more on the show and breeding front, that’s all from me for now. Please take care of yourselves and each other.
