WBO Report May 2026
Although we are in spring the weather is still changeable but the days are getting longer which is helping our breeding season. I hope that all of you have enjoyed a successful breeding season so far and will be ready for the forthcoming show season.
I bring to your attention the following items for your information:
2nd Vice Chairman: As you know, we introduced last year in our Constitution the position of 2nd Vice Chairman to cater solely for the Colour Budgerigars (Rule 6.v.). At the end of last year there was only one nomination for this position for Dino Pocecco (Italy) so he took office officially as from 1st April 2026. We welcome Dino to this position and he is no stranger to us as he has been the WBO delegate for Club AMICI (Italy) for many years. The WBO website has been amended accordingly.
WBO Pictorial Ideal: Further to the few minor amendments on the 2024 Pictorial Ideal agreed at the 2025 WBO meeting in Blackpool, England, the Ideal had a second round of votes and again passed by a large majority of those societies who voted. The 2025 Pictorial Ideal is now on the new WBO website with the Welfare Statement.
WBO World Championship Show: The 12th WBO World Championship Show will be held in conjunction with the Italian society Club AMICI national show on 12th – 14th June in Reggio Emilia. The full classification for both the exhibition budgerigar and colour budgerigar, entry form, hotels and other details of the show are included with the attachments. I hope that many of you will take this opportunity to visit and exhibit at the show.
Please remember that this is an open show and fanciers from all WBO member countries are invited to send teams to the show. The WBO is awarding special patronage to the show (50 rosettes) as well as the array of awards given by the host society and individuals so please come and support the show.

2025 Show Results: I attach the 2025 show results received from member countries so far. Sadly, there are a few countries that have not sent me their results to add to the website.
Subscriptions: The annual subscription is now due on 1st April. I enclose the Information Sheet, which I request that you fill in and return to me with your subscription fee (the form is also on the WBO website, 2nd form). The WBO bank details are also included on the sheet should you wish to pay by bank transfer or by PayPal. It is important that I receive this completed Information Sheet to update my records with your society’s details, names and details of delegates as well as society website address and show dates. Please do not hesitate to ask me if you are not sure whether your society has paid or not.
Societies who are attending the WBO World Show in Italy can pay me in euros (60 euros) if they wish. Also, please inform me if you are attending so that I can bring you the WBO rosettes for your national show.
Please check the WBO website and the Contact Information for Member Countries’ file to see if I have accurate details of your contact and also the correct website address of your society.
Also, please visit the WBO International Judges Panel file and check that I have the correct details of your qualified judges and their current telephone number as the responsibility lies with you for the accuracy of the information relating to your society/country.
