Sydney Royal Easter Show
Aviary Bird Competition | 9th & 10th April | Sydney Olympic Park, Homebush
The Sydney Royal Easter Show is an opportunity to showcase exhibition budgerigars to the wider community. No other event in NSW attracts as many visitors as this one, with the Pet Pavilion a favourite for anyone interested in aviary birds and pets. Visitors can engage with breeders and see the many different varieties of budgerigars on exhibition. The display includes interactive elements, allowing visitors to ask questions, speak to BSNSW officials and breeders, and learn more about exhibition budgies.
Huge thanks must go to Jeff Mansfield from Hills Club for his initiative to organise and create two pull-up banners with the BSNSW logo and QR codes for anyone interested in learning more about the BSNSW and the ANBC.
Andre Ozoux has been the Chief Steward for the Budgerigar section at Sydney Royal for several years now, and James Matthews was the officiating judge this year.
Dave Dunn, of D.A.D Budgerigars, took out top honours this year, winning Grand Champion Budgerigar, Reserve Champion Old, Reserve Champion Young, as well as seven Best of Variety Awards.
Andre Ozoux won Champion Young Bird and Champion Reserve Champion of Show, with Maree and Paul McCusker winning six Best of Variety Awards.

New England Budgerigar Club Annual Show
11th April | Nemingah Hall, Nemingah / Tamworth
Whilst entry numbers were slightly lower, perhaps due to ongoing fuel issues, with regional fuel prices impacted more than Sydney, the quality of birds on display remained high, making for a competitive and enjoyable day.
Craig Buckingham and Richard Bucior judged and engaged with exhibitors throughout the day. It was wonderful to see Novice breeder Alan Nightingale take out top honours, winning Grand Champion Budgerigar and Champion Young Bird with a Yellowfaced Blue. He also won both Champion Novice and Opposite Sex Novice.
John Boss won Champion Opposite Sex of Show with a Normal Green and Champion Open Young Opposite Sex. Ken Seagrott won Champion Any Age with a Normal Blue, Small Family won Champion Open Young, Jeff Mansfield took out Champion Intermediate, and Sykes Family won Champion Intermediate Opposite Sex.
