GUIDELINES FOR AWARDING WBO PATRONAGE ROSETTES
Background
- Each year WBO promotional patronage is sent to each member society/country. This patronage consists of four five-tier rosettes for national shows; Best Any Age in Show, Best Any Age Opposite Sex, Best Young Bird in Show and Best Young Bird Opposite Sex. The WBO colour rosettes is made up of the five continent’s colours as used in the Olympic Flag; blue, yellow, black, green and red.
- Since joining the WBO in 1999 Australia has been awarded four rosettes annually as Patronage from the WBO. For the ANBC, these are awarded by the Member Body hosting the current year A.N.B.C. Annual Championship Show. Names of winning exhibitors and quality photographs of the winning birds are posted to the WBO Web-site world-budgerigar.org.
- The rosettes are forwarded directly to the Secretary of the host State/Zone by the Secretary of the WBO following advice and contact details from the A.N.B.C. Secretary. Host State/Zone is required to acknowledge receipt of the rosettes to the WBO Secretary with a c.c. copy of the email to the A.N.B.C. Secretary. The rosettes are normally forwarded in late April or early May and may be awarded in retrospect for shows already conducted in that calendar year provided photographs of the winning birds are provided.
- Definitions. The following definitions apply to rosettes awarded within the A.N.B.C.:
- Any Age (AA) – WBO definition is a bird rung with a ring other than the current year. For the A.N.B.C. and its member bodies this means Old birds or Young birds. Young birds meaning for this definition birds in adult feather rung with the previous years ring. Our State/Zone selection shows for the National would fit this category. i.e. two rosettes.
- Young Birds (Y/B) – WBO definition is birds rung with current year ring. For the A.N.B.C. and its member bodies this means current year rung birds in adult or nest feather/un-broken cap. i.e. two rosettes
- All four rosettes may be awarded at the one show if the above categories are catered for on the schedule. However, within the A.N.B.C. this may not be achievable given the early programming of some member body Annual Shows. A bird awarded a WBO rosette which also wins the best bird in show (BIS) award for the show where the rosette is awarded is to be indicated to the WBO as BIS.
Reporting Results
- Results are required to be notified to the WBO and the ANBC using the attached format. Notification is to include the full names of the exhibitors and the award. Photographs of the winning birds are required to be forwarded to the WBO Secretary for inclusion on the WBO web-site. See the web-site for an indication of the quality of photograph required. Should the rosettes be awarded at separate shows for AA and Y/B, then separate notification is required to avoid undue delay in posting to the web-site.
