ANBC Hall of Fame, Breeders Excellence Division Induction: 2005
Celebrated members of the Australian budgerigar fancy, Graeme and Marlene represented Tasmania with distinction over a long and successful exhibition career. Their partnership, both in life and in the breeding room, delivered outstanding results on the national stage, earning them a well-deserved place in the ANBC Hall of Fame with a total of 10 class wins. To that end, they are the only Tasmanian’s in the ANBC Hall of Fame Breeder Excellence Division.
Their journey to national success began in 1989, a standout year in which they claimed three ANBC wins in the Greywing, Lacewing, and Red-Eyed Self classes. These early victories showcased the strength and quality of their stud across multiple varieties. Further success followed with wins in Cinnamon wing (1996 and 2005), Lutino (1997), and Hens Class (1999), highlighting their consistency and versatility.
The pinnacle of their exhibition career came in 2006, when Graeme and Marlene added three national wins in a single year—Cinnamonwing, Opaline AOSV, and Hens Class—a rare and impressive achievement that marked their final contribution before retiring from the show bench.
Highly respected within the Tasmanian fancy, the Tuthills were known not only for their competitive success but also for their warm support of fellow breeders. Their legacy continues to inspire fanciers across Australia, especially those from smaller zones who aspire to national excellence.
