The Geelong & District Budgerigar Society Inc. proudly presents its 29th Annual Budgerigar Auction. The event is set to take place on Sunday 26th April 2026 at the Geelong Showgrounds – Hall of Agriculture. This highly anticipated event is a must-attend for breeders, exhibitors, and enthusiasts. Importantly, visitors can look to secure quality budgerigars from leading Victorian bloodlines.

Featuring an impressive 187 lots of budgerigars, the auction showcases birds from invited breeders across Victoria. There are also carefully selected entries from Geelong club members. With such depth and variety, this sale offers an outstanding opportunity to strengthen breeding programs. Alternatively, you can add proven stock to your aviary.

Premium Budgerigar Varieties Available

Buyers can expect a diverse range of exhibition-quality birds. Varieties include Opalines, Spangles, Double Factor Spangles, Recessive Pieds, Dominant Pieds, Cinnamonwings, Lacewings, Clearbodies, Lutinos, Inos, Grey Greens, Sky Blues and many more. Catalogue notes also highlight proven bloodlines, show performance and strong breeding potential. Therefore, this is a standout opportunity for anyone serious about budgerigars.

Auction Details and Schedule

The day begins with birds benched by 9:00am, followed by viewing from 9:00am to 10:00am. The auction will officially commence at 10:00am, with Peter Thurn conducting proceedings. All bidders must sign in on arrival. This step registers them for the day and gives them their bidder number.

The venue is located at the Geelong Showgrounds – Hall of Agriculture, with entry via the main gate off Breakwater Road, East Geelong. Food and drinks will be available for purchase on site, making it easy for attendees to settle in and enjoy the full auction experience.

Bidding, Transport and Buyer Information

This is an unreserved budgerigar auction, meaning every listed bird will be sold to the highest bidder on the day. Phone bidding is available for those unable to attend in person, and transport assistance can be arranged through Animal Freight Australia.

Please note that a 2% buyer’s premium applies, while sellers are subject to a 10% club commission. Card payments are accepted. However, a 2% surcharge applies to card transactions. Buyers are encouraged to read the auction rules and terms carefully before bidding.
