Australian National Budgerigar Council
ANBC Presidents Report July 2026
As the incoming ANBC President I want to extend my sincere thanks to the exceptionally dedicated ANBC Committee for their hard work and leadership. Each of you play such an important part in ensuring that the ANBC remains a vibrant, progressive governing body for the Australian budgerigar community.
Garry Hibberd you should be incredibly proud of the job you did on behalf of your South Queensland Budgerigar Breeders Association team in hosting a spectacular Trill™ Expert National Show last month, setting the standard for NSW in 2027.
I am deeply honoured for the opportunity to work alongside the remarkable people who have driven the outstanding progress of the Australian National Budgerigar competition in recent years, helping transform it from a localised State and Zone event into a truly premier national and worldwide benchmark.
The Budgerigar Society of NSW of course is hosting the National Competition in 2027 at the Canberra Rex Hotel, in Bradden ACT. The Rex Hotel has undergone a major multi-million rebuild and refurbishment in recent years, making it an ideal venue for the 51st Trill™ Expert ANBC Nationals.
We are absolutely delighted to have Dr Harry Cooper as our very special guest at next year’s event. Dr Harry played a significantly integral role in formulating the National “Teams Competition” some 50-odd years ago.
On behalf of the BSNSW and its members our sincere thanks must go to Daniel Scheerer for taking on the critical role of BSNSW’s National Show coordinator for next year’s event. Dan is one of our BSNSW’s Vice Presidents, is President of Newcastle Budgerigar Club, and a successful budgie breeder who encapsulates the new generation of budgie breeders.
Stay tuned for updates as plans for the 2027 Nationals progress.
Kathy Manton.
