ANBC President’s Report

Whilst the ANBC unites enthusiasts, breeders, and clubs through the States and Zones it was great to see the arm of budgerigar friendship reach across the ditch recently with Craig Buckingham from NSW and Peter Thurn from Victoria being invited recently to judge in New Zealand.

I’m sure the opportunity will have created lasting bonds based on our common passion for budgerigars, with the exchange of knowledge and interest.

Following the success of the 2026 Nationals in May, most of us are now focusing on preparing for and pairing birds for the breeding season ahead.

Meanwhile, there are currently a plethora of auctions for anyone looking at purchasing outcrosses to enhance their pairing outcomes, whether by boosting hybrid vigour, or to introduce highly desirable new traits.

Success in the upcoming breeding season will lay the foundation for the 2027 show bench.

The ANBC in conjunction with BSNSW are now looking ahead to the 51st Trill™ hosted by the BSNSW in Canberra.
