The Ipswich and Districts Budgerigar Society held its annual Julie Trebbin Memorial Show on Sunday, 11 October, attracting an excellent 373 nominations and providing a great day of budgerigar exhibition.
One of the most pleasing aspects of the show was the strong contingent of Novice exhibitors, along with the inclusion of Heritage birds. The Society is keen to build on this interest, with plans to further expand the Heritage section at future shows and encourage more people to discover and enjoy this fascinating hobby.
The quality of the birds on display was impressive, with high-quality exhibits represented across all varieties and divisions, making for an enjoyable and competitive day.
Taking out Grand Champion of Show was a juvenile Sky Blue cock owned by Joel Keune, who also claimed Best Young Bird with a Grey Normal cock. Champion Opposite Sex of Show went to a Sky Blue hen from the aviary of Aaron Forbes.
With strong nominations, encouraging support from Novice exhibitors and growing interest in Heritage birds, the Society can look back on a successful show and look forward with confidence to an even bigger and brighter 2027.
Special thanks go to the judges for their efforts and the excellent job they did throughout the day, helping make the Julie Trebbin Memorial Show another successful event for the Ipswich Budgerigar Society.
