TASMANIAN BUDGERIGAR SOCIETY

WINTER PRESENTATION SHOW

The Tasmanian Budgerigar Society held its annual winter presentation show on Saturday the 20th June at the Midway Point Hall in Midway Point.

Judges for the day were Rod Turnbull Victoria (ANBC) and Dale Ward TAS

Judging was underway at 10.30am with a touch over 200 birds benched between Young Birds, Any Age and UBC`s.

Rod Turnbull was overseeing the Open Birds and Dale Ward overseeing the Novice section then both judges coming together to oversee the Intermediate section and then to choose the overall Best Young Bird of the three classes.

The Intermediate section had the most entries, and it was clear early there were a couple of standout birds that might play a part in the final line up for not only the Best Young Intermediate but also Champion Young bird in show.

Lunch was had shortly after midday and the topic of winning the incentive raffle was hot on the agenda.

With lunch all done and all variety winners selected it was now time to select Novice, Intermediate and Open Champion Young birds, Rod had the duties of selecting Champion Open Young bird and then Dale assisted Rod with selecting Champion Novice Young bird and Champion Intermediate Young bird.

  • Champion Young bird in Show and Champion Intermediate Young bird was an Opaline Normal Wing exhibited by Michael & Julie Jones.
  • Champion Open Young bird was a Normal Blue exhibited by Dale Ward
  • Champion Novice Young bird was a Normal Grey exhibited by the Buckingham Family
  • Best UBC in show was a Spangle Double Factor exhibited by Dale Ward with the UBC section judged by Rod Turnbull

With all judging completed it was time for the presentations.

Presentations were kicked off with the draw of the BCT Incentive Award. This year’s award was kindly supplied by Heath Chasemore (VIC) which was a Spangle Opaline Cinnamonwing Grey Green cock and a Spangle Double Factor Yellow hen. Rod Turnbull had the job of picking out the winning ticket and the winner was S&D Walkley of the TBS.

The Major Awards were presented to the winners and then members who were present that had birds selected for the Tasmanian team for this year’s 50th Annual Trill™ Expert ANBC National Championships were presented with their rosettes.
