NSW Budgerigar Show Wrap – February 2026

February saw two outstanding budgerigar events in New South Wales, with the St George Budgerigar Club Annual Show held on 15th February and the Newcastle Budgerigar Club Annual Show on 22nd February 2026.

Both shows produced strong numbers of exhibits and showcased exceptional quality birds across all sections.

Results – St George Budgerigar Club Annual Show – 15th February 2026

An exceptional number of exhibits were benched at St George. Some sources reported approximately 460 birds, while others suggested a staggering 484 (perhaps including several Teams & Collections). Either way, it was a tremendous roll-up and a credit to the club and its members.

Grand Champion was awarded to Bingo Razon with a superb Any Age Normal Grey cock. The bird stood out for its exceptional show qualities, presented in perfect feather and condition with a commanding “look at me” presence.

Results – Newcastle Budgerigar Club Annual Show – 22nd February 2026

A total of 330 birds were exhibited at Newcastle, with some outstanding quality on display throughout the hall.

Grand Champion was awarded to Gary Gazzard with a magnificent Dominant Pied Spangle young cock. The bird was beautifully proportioned, carried lovely feather, displayed a deep mask and featured extraordinary directional feather from the cere.

Champion Opposite Sex in Show went to the Jupp & Scheerer Partnership with a strong Cinnamonwing Any Age Hen.

Champion Any Age was won by Dave Dunn (D.A.D Family) with one of his renowned Normal Sky Blues.

Judges on the day were Eric Whitton, Steve Wilson and Rob Peffer.

Newcastle Budgerigar Club Annual Show – 22 February 2026

The Newcastle Budgerigar Club proudly hosted its 2026 Annual Show on 22 February, delivering a fantastic day of competition, camaraderie and quality exhibition budgerigars.

Congratulations to NBC member Gary Gazzard on winning the prestigious Grand Champion award for 2026. A further congratulations to the Jupp & Scheerer Partnership on securing Champion Opposite Sex in what was a highly competitive field.

A huge acknowledgement must go to the incredible team of NBC members who volunteered their time and energy to ensure the success of the show. From kitchen duties and stewarding birds, to managing administration, setting up and dismantling staging, and handling the post-show clean up — your contribution did not go unnoticed. The strength of our club lies in its volunteers, and we sincerely thank each and every one of you.

We also extend our appreciation to the panel of judges, all of whom travelled considerable distances to officiate. Your expertise and commitment to the fancy are greatly valued.

Congratulations to Team Newcastle on delivering a highly successful show and an outstanding day for the hobby.
