SQBBA August Report 2026

Another month has come and gone. Jeez I’m getting old quick, soon I’ll be the same age as old people. At last it’s starting to get a bit cold here on the Southern Downs with a couple of frost It’s been a different winter for most in South Queensland

On the budgerigar scene The Wynnum club held it’s show early in the month with novice breeder Ray Saunders taking out the Champion of Show this was Ray’s best achievement to date and he. was quite happy to say the least congratulations to Ray.

Also the Sunshine Coast Budgerigar Association also held their show with their El Presidente Neale Love taking out top honours with best Young bird of Show (I think there must of been 2 full moons that week). Congratulations to Neale

Morton budgerigar club held their auction on Sunday the 26th with a very well attended event buyers could not have complained as there were birds there to meet every market

SQBBA, Sunshine Coast Budgerigar Association, Gold Coast & Hinterland Budgerigar Society, Wynnum Redlands Budgerigar Society & Moreton Budgerigar Association have utilised the features of the ShoWorks computer system to manage their recent show. Look Ahead

Brisbane & Northern Suburbs Budgerigar Society is hosting their Annual Show on Sunday August 23 at the Tom Petrie Room at Strathpine. We are hopeful of a good rollout and some exceptional birds in Old, Young, Juvenile and Nest feather classes.  We have over $1,900 worth of cash prizes with $100 being the award for best Young Cinnamonwing and best young Normal Grey which has kindly been donated by our Patron Henry George. Shows held recently have had super birds benched especially in the Young Bird and Nest feather Classes which is a great sign for the hobby

Show Schedule for the ABS Inc. 69th Anniversary Club House Show 2026 to be held at our Club House on Sunday the 16^th of August. Entries are taken from Monday the 10^th through to Saturday the 15^th  at 7pm, please text or phone Cheryl, email  babybird1973a@outlook.com ,  or phone Gavin and Wayne with your entries. Bring along as many as you like , if you could please advise your entry numbers this will help with our set up and catering for the show.

Benching starts 9 am

We have continued with the same entry format as 2021 details below, we hope this is a help for everyone.

Some Point details on our Show:

1. You do not have to dress your budgies for the show.
2. Unisex Show for Young Budgies and Nestfeathers.
3. There is no entry fee for your exhibits. Entries are FREE of Charge.
4. This Show is now a points show so Junior, Novice and Intermediate Exhibitors can gain points for elevation.
5. Entries are taken from Monday 10^th up to Saturday night at 7pm, or you can send through earlier to speed up the process.
6. Benching starts at 9:00am, judging from 10am.come along earlier if you are entering on the day of our show.
7. Sale Budgies are welcome.
8. Floor covering in show cages is seed or millet spray at the exhibitors choice.
9. This is the sixth time our show will be held at our Club House at 1 Plantation Road, Beenleigh., hence the name change.
10. Full list of awards. Cash prizes for Open and Intermediate and Trophies for Novice and Junior, Trophies for all Major Award Winners.
11. Plenty of room and parking for everyone.
12. Raffle is a huge multi Draw raffle including a Meat Tray, Seed and Bunnings vouchers, you all know how great our raffles are plus a few more extras and surprises.
13. Our club Trade Table will be fully operational.
14. Café ABS will be providing a delicious Morning Tea and Lunch. Plenty of food like always. Morning Tea with a few fresh Glennis Henderson and Dianne treats plus extras like picklets and many extras like always, Lunch will be Pizza.
15. Games are always part of the fun. This year some fun organized.
16. We do hope this helps everybody with your entries for our Club House Show.
17. Weather is going to be amazing. Sunny, Sunny, Sunny and warm.
18. If you can help setting up we will be there from 8am on the day of the show setting up gazebos, tables, chairs and staging. Some of this work will be done beforehand.

Our Club House Show will be for Nestfeathers 2026 Green Ring and Young Birds with a 2025 Black Ring or a 2026 Green Ring.

We are planning a super day filled with fun and enjoyment for the whole family.

There will be raffles, sale birds our trade table and a fantastic morning tea and lunch provided by Café ABS.  We will continue with our fun games which is part of our tradition.

So come along and please bring your birds this will be a fun filled free day, light hearted and a good time to relax have a chat and sit back.

The floor covering for show cages is Seed or Millet Spray at the exhibitors choice for our Club House Show. You will also notice we are providing extra trophies for our Junior exhibitors just like we do at our Annual Shows always and even more major awards. We would love to see as many Juniors as possible at this show.
