WABC Sept Report 2026

A Busy and Successful August

August proved to be another busy and successful month for budgerigar enthusiasts across Western Australia, with three club events bringing together breeders, exhibitors and supporters from throughout the state.

Despite the challenges of the winter weather, exhibitors continued to demonstrate their commitment and enthusiasm for our wonderful hobby. Each event provided an excellent opportunity to compete, catch up with fellow fanciers, exchange ideas and admire the quality of birds being bred and exhibited across Western Australia.

The month featured table shows hosted by the Rare Budgerigar Club of WA, South West Budgerigar Club of WA and Metropolitan Budgerigar Club of WA. All three events received strong support from members and visitors, reinforcing the wonderful sense of camaraderie that exists within the Western Australian budgerigar fraternity.

While attendance remained encouraging, the number of birds benched was somewhat lower than in previous months. This is not unexpected during the colder winter period, when breeding programs, moulting birds and seasonal conditions can influence exhibitor numbers. Nevertheless, the quality of the exhibits on display was impressive and reflected the dedication, knowledge and high standards maintained by our Western Australian breeders.

A particularly significant milestone for the Rare Budgerigar Club of WA was the successful staging of its Annual Championship Show at its new venue in Bayswater. Members were impressed with the excellent facilities, which provide a spacious, comfortable and welcoming environment for exhibitors, judges and visitors. This move represents an exciting new chapter for the club and provides excellent opportunities for future growth and the continued promotion of rare variety budgerigars throughout Western Australia.

Looking Ahead to September

As the exhibition season continues, September promises to be another busy month on the Western Australian budgerigar calendar.

The Rare Budgerigar Club of WA will host a Club Sales Day on 6 September at the Drill Hall in Bayswater, providing members and the public with an opportunity to sell their birds and related products.

This will be followed by the South West Budgerigar Club of WA Annual Live Auction on 20 September, with approximately 80 lots available. This promises to be an excellent event and is certainly well worth supporting.

The month will conclude with the Metropolitan Budgerigar Club of WA Table Show on 26 September.
