Welcome to your Monthly Edition of the ANBC Gazette
Dear Fanciers,
The Christmas and New Year period is traditionally a quieter time across our Zones, before clubs and committees regroup and preparations resume for the year ahead.
With January now behind us, preparations continue to gather momentum for the 50th ANBC Trill Expert National Championship Show to be held on the Gold Coast. I am pleased to report that, thanks to the continued support of Mars Birdcare, the ANBC and SQBBA have successfully negotiated sponsorship for the ANBC Scoreboard and all three judging sessions. This sponsorship also includes advertising across the four judges’ shirts. Congratulations to the four invited judges selected to officiate at the Gold Coast National.
The ANBC Working Group and the SQBBA National Committee have been particularly active over the holiday period, finalising the audiovisual programme and event requirements in conjunction with Mantra at Sharks Southport. In addition, initial discussions have commenced with the Budgerigar Society of New South Wales National Coordinator as they begin preparations for the 2027 National Championship Show in Canberra.
Included with this Gazette is Attachment 6 to ANBC By-Law 1(a). This document contains important requirements that all Zones should be fully familiar with prior to conducting their Zone Selection Shows.

Preparations for the Hall of Fame – Service Division pull-up displays are also underway. The ANBC is seeking assistance in sourcing high-quality photographs of recipients, many of whom have sadly passed away. In many cases, our only references come from historical records. Special thanks go to Ron Hunt for his recollections of those early Service Division recipients. If you are able to assist with information or suitable photographs (preferably of high resolution for reproduction), your help would be greatly appreciated.
Sadly, we have lost several valued members of our community since Christmas. We extend our sincere condolences to their families and loved ones and wish them peace and comfort during this difficult time.
Zone Supporters Polo Shirts are once again available at the same cost as last year: $60 per shirt, plus $10 postage (preferred delivery method). To guarantee delivery, all orders must be received by the end of March.

Fixing Spangles
Think Spangles are “easy”? Think again.
