Welcome to your Monthly Edition of the ANBC Gazette
Dear Fanciers,
I can honestly say that once an ANBC National has been completed and packed away for another year, it feels as though we should finally be able to enjoy a well-earned break and release some of the stress. Normally that would be the case; however, the ANBC AGM has also come and gone, with all positions successfully filled for the next twelve months.
The ANBC Executive Committee for 2026/27 is as follows:

Congratulations to everyone who has accepted a position within the ANBC. I look forward to working with you all over the coming twelve months as we continue to build on the work already undertaken.
The ANBC is now very much in “moving forward” mode, reviewing the past twelve months while planning for the year ahead. Our focus now turns to preparations for the 51st Trill™ National, hosted by BNSW, along with progressing Working Group recommendations, Zone motions, By-Law reviews, and ongoing implementation of the ANBC Constitution.
The 2027 ring ordering process is now underway. There were a couple of minor hiccups with the Coditech website ordering page, but I am pleased to advise these issues have now been resolved, and Zones have been given the green light to proceed with their 2027 ring orders.
At the same time, discussions are continuing regarding the ANBC–Coditech contract for the 2028, 2029 and 2030 seasons. Negotiations have been positive from both parties, and I am hopeful an agreement will be finalised in the near future. Having been fortunate enough to be involved in the previous three-year contract negotiations, I appreciate the open and honest approach that has always existed between the ANBC and Coditech in achieving an outcome that benefits everyone.
As in previous years, I encourage Zones to provide feedback regarding ring quality, supply, ordering procedures, or any other concerns relating to Coditech. Please forward any comments or issues directly to the ANBC Secretary so they can be discussed with the supplier.
June was generally a quieter month for shows and meetings; however, judging by the calendars, we are about to enter a very busy period with auctions, championship shows, and club events taking place across the country.
As always, if your club has an upcoming event that you would like promoted through your Zone’s section of the ANBC Gazette, please forward the details to your Zone Secretary so they can be included for publication.
Finally, I would like to address the most significant issue currently affecting aviculture in Australia.
At the time of printing, the Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI H5N1), commonly referred to as bird flu, has now been detected in Western Australia (4 migratory birds) and South Australia (1 migratory bird) with more test results pending. This development reinforces the importance of every bird keeper remaining vigilant and maintaining good biosecurity practices.
Government information and updates are available through the following resources, and our Avian Veterinarian, Dr Hamish Baron, has once again included practical biosecurity calculators and advice in this edition of the Gazette.
Please take the time to familiarise yourself with the information available and remain up to date with developments in your own State or Territory. Good biosecurity is everyone’s responsibility, and by working together we can help protect our birds and our hobby.
